Synergy Eco Ltd, a Watford based business is proud to work in partnership with Watford Borough Council to deliver vital energy efficiency measures to residents across the borough. This collaboration, made possible through a £3.75 million grant, aims to reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions and improve the quality of life for Watford residents.
Together, we will provide tailored energy saving solutions to help residents save on energy bills, reduce their environmental impact and increase home comfort. The initiative focuses on supporting low income households, vulnerable individuals and those with inefficient heating or poor insulation, ensuring that energy savings are felt where they are needed most. This partnership is an important step towards a more sustainable and affordable future for Watford.
The Warm Homes Local Grant scheme (WHLG) secured by Watford Borough Council in partnership with Three Rivers District Council and funded by the Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) provides eligible Watford residents with the opportunity to receive fully funded energy efficiency improvements worth up to £30,000 per home. These improvements, which may include wall, loft, and underfloor insulation, heating controls, draught-proofing, double or triple glazing, solar photovoltaic panels and heat pumps, are designed to reduce energy consumption, lower energy bills and enhance the comfort and health of the home. The scheme specifically targets households with EPC ratings of D, E, F, or G, with a focus on low-income families, vulnerable individuals and those experiencing fuel poverty.
Watford Borough Council, along with Three Rivers District Council, is working with the National Energy Foundation, the managing agent for the scheme and in partnership with Synergy Eco Ltd to carry out the installation of these energy efficient measures and deliver the grants to eligible households in Watford. This initiative not only helps residents save on their energy bills but also contributes to the UK’s net-zero carbon goals by improving the energy performance of homes across the borough.
Privately owned and privately rented households living in properties with EPC ratings of D, E, F or G, may be eligible for the Warm Homes Local Grant if they meet any of the three qualification routes below:
Means-tested benefits: A member of the household is in receipt of a means-tested benefit:
Household income: The household’s gross annual income is below £36,000 per year (inclusive of tax). The income of every adult member of the household counts towards the income threshold, except for those in full-time education
Great News! If you live in one of the postcodes below. These postcodes have been pre-determined by the council and residing there is the only qualification needed to upgrade your home.
Starting in 2025, new EPC regulations will mandate that all newly rented properties achieve a minimum C rating. By 2028, this requirement will apply to all existing tenancies as well. The goal of these changes is to cut carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency within the private rental sector. As part of this initiative, landlords will receive full funding for upgrades on one property, while any additional properties will be eligible for 50% funding toward installation costs.
